Classroom Instructional Tools Reviews

Below you will find Instructional Software and Hardware Reviews. I will also review various instructional lessons listed on the internet.

Guided Reading History Book - Wars

Screencast-o-Matic
  • Free 15 minute screencast maker. No download needed. No Sign up needed (you will need a YouTube account to upload your video, but that's free and easy). Yes, you can only record for 15 minutes, but that's a good thing. Students will not watch videos longer than 15 minutes.

Review Game Zone
  • Lots of educational games with a lot of variety. Most topics are covered. If you sign up (free), you can create your own games. It is very easy. All you have to do is type in your questions and multiple choice answers. he variety of games offered is awesome.

ClassTools.net
  • A plethora of resources on this website that are free, easy, and do not require a login. My favorites are the Arcade Game Generator, Dust Bin Game, and the Timer.

ContentGenerator.net
  • This website takes a little bit more technical knowledge, but not much. The games are more advance and of a higher quality. Thus, some of the games are not free. Teacher Invaders, The Minute Anagram game, and Fling the Teacher are free, useful, and enjoyed by students.

Daily News for Students (w/comprehension questions)
  • Great for helping students read Non-Fiction. The student daily news often covers science and social studies topics.

Kahoot
  • Kahoot! is a classroom response system which creates an engaging learning space, through a game-based digital pedagogy.

Interactive Quizzes directly taken from released State Standardizes Tests

Code.org
  • This 20-hour course introduces core computer science and programming concepts. The course is designed for use in classrooms for grades K-8, but it is fun to learn at all ages.

Crash Course
  • Great social studies videos by a semi-famous writer, John Green ("The Fault in our Stars" popular teen book that's a summer 2014 movie). For some students, you will have to pause the video in the class ("he talks too fast" is a typical quote from my southern students).

Chester's Comix
  • To the point one page comics that cover social studies topics. Subscription is required to access comics, but most have been uploaded to google images if you search for them.
